Hi,
My two sons and I arrived at the trail head 12:40am yesterday (8/17) to find emergency team already at the portal. Talking with two hikers who were part of a group it seems one of their members suffered a heart attack just 15 mins into the hike.
After offering to assist in any way we could, we set off only to pass a stretcher crew coming down.

Anyone aware of the outcome?
Thanks and hoping for the best.

Thanks,
We live very close to Newhall.
As a word of general information. I spoke to the leader of the group as he was already at the trailhead awaiting the return of the medical response team.
He was the one who called 911, he said that although they were only a mile from the trailhead there was a reluctance on behalf of the authorities to assist.
