I'm mostly a lurker, but I thought I'd share a video of our MR trip.

MT Whitney mountaineer's route 09-2010 from Mike Nielson on Vimeo.

Father son Mt Whitney trip. Scott Dalton and I took our sons up the Mountaineer's Route to Mt Whitney. Dane age 13, Adam age 12. Their first assent. Thanks Scott for a great editing job.

Mike, way cool man - congrats to Dane and Adam both! The video was clearly a labor of love, and exceptionally well done - really enjoyed it! The Rainier video was great as well.

You need to participate more, lurk less . . .

Great video. Thanks for sharing that. Especially for those of us who have been to the summit but not via MR route. Now I know what I'm in for on my next attempt.

Great job Mike, Scott, Dana, and Adam! I also took my 17-year old son up the MR this summer for our first Whitney Summit. Pretty cool, huh? Your video makes me feel like such a loser dad though. Not only did I not recored any video, I forgot the card to my camera so could only take a handful of pictures that I could store on the internal memory. Oh well.....the two of us will never forget it! I know you will also cherish these memories with your boys forever too.

Congratulations again. You guys have two strong young men.

Way Coooool is an understatement. The accomplishment of summiting via the the MR route is cool...........The bonding with your son is...................priceless.

Thanks for all for the kind words.

I will use this trip often to confirm to my son that he CAN do hard things.

Scott was wearing a GoPro Hd "head cam" during several sections of the climb, I thought it gave it a good perspective especially the ledges, but you'd need Dramamine to watch the entire footage.
