There's an unofficial age limit. We've never had anyone under 5.

But rules are made to be broken, in case you know any tough 4-year olds.

Upper limit? Kurt's dad has been on one of these hikes, so I know they take people over 40.

Shin is ahead of me by nearly 150 ascents, so I had better do it to keep that lead form widening further. smile

For Eric's sake, I hope he's running that day. cool

I'm hoping to make it but won't know until closer to the day. The usual ski hut trail? How about register ridge? Just for a change? But either is fine. Get the family back together just in time for the holidays. grin

Dang, Dude, Kurt has a key to the hut. Hanging out in hut is the best part of the climb.

A more important question (to me at least): who's gonna be at the show in WLA that night. I might be tempted to race to LA after work for this one.

Morning Richard:

Was wondering if the Baldy Hike is open to Moderately Experienced Hikers. My husband Peter and I summited Baldy last week on the Ski Hut trail. Whitney as well. Although, we haven't used our Ice Axes before. Is it okay if we join in?

Duh, Richard you're right. Wow, I forgot about the hut! I've been working too hard, which is obscuring my thinking. Forget I said anything about register ridge. cool

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Wow count me in for this too. It would be great to meet some board members finally. There were patches of snow on the summit last Saturday, and clouds over the mountain this week. I'm assuming conditions are going to be more interesting now.

Wish I could do this but it's on a Friday. Photo from Saturday 10/30. I would imagine everyone can expect more weather between now and then.

Wow thanks for the picture Tracie. I went up to the summit yesterday and all that was sadly gone. Only snow left is right when your about to head up the hill right before the summit there was a little bit of snow in the shade. With temps projected this week on Baldy @ 8000ft in the 70's there will be no snow left. See you all 2 weeks from this Friday!

Cindy
I hope we have enough accumulation to use them on the 19th, but I think chances are much better for your hike on the 4th.
