I like my Marmot Limelight, it's a nice light tent at a reasonable price, especially since it includes a footprint. I haven't tested it in heavy rains or winds, though.

I've used the REI Quarterdome UL 2-person the past few years and have been very happy with it. It's kept me dry in monsoon-like deluges and even stood up to a pretty violent wind/dust storm that lasted several hours in Death Valley when other tents around me were collapsing or tumbling away.
Mine's right at 5 pounds with fly, footprint, poles and stakes, but it's 3 years old. I think the current version weighs less than 4 pounds.

I have a ... MSR HUBA-HUBA ... its light and fast to set-up and breakdown we have used it on several week long trips with no problems. It did well in rain and wind conditions. I have only good things to say about it. I would not use it for winter or high winds, have another 4 season for that.

I've been using a Seedhouse 2 for a couple of years now. It's worked out OK for me and my girlfriend. It's handled big wind fairly well for such a light tent. Some fierce winds at the base of Mt. Lyell bent a pole, and it has a tear that we repaired in the floor from being set up on a rough slab. Over all, considering the light weight, it's my favorite tent. It is a little snug, though. Be prepared to be on good terms with your tentmate.

what about single layer tents?
don't go there - in my experience and opinion.
I once had a Eureka Zeus despite being warned about condensation. Definitely problem, even in low humidity Sierras.

I'll second that.
Why Yes, I am crazy. I'm just not stupid.

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 2
I have the UL3 for 3 persons - love that tent. Best one I ever used, super light, roomy, great ventilation. Search online for a discount price, because you don't want to pay list for these things. I paid almost $200 less than list for mine.

I really like the REI Halfdome. Similiar to the Quarterdome, but has less mesh.

i'm looking for a 2 person tent. 3 season under 5 lbs. what do you use? if you want a wider range in your tent, look into the Black Diamond Firstlight. since i got it a couple years ago, i have not used another tent. it is a single wall tent under 3lbs. you can find a good deal for around $200-250. designed as a 3-season plus and snug fit for two. i used mostly as a solo tent and two with my girlfriend from the desert to the mountains year round. set up in less than 1 min.
When in doubt, go up.

The Cabelas XPG Ultralight is basically a knock-off of the REI Half Dome. Same quality for $149. See:

I wouldn't write off a single walled tent for three season use. I use a Cloudburst II (Tarptent) and it works great in spring-summer-fall. Its not designed to be closed up tight like a winter tent, so its well ventilated, and it keeps the bugs and rain at bay. FWIW: single walled isn't any different than a mesh tent with a rainfly - poke a hole in the fly and it also leaks.
