I have my fingers crossed!

This year’s lottery:
8,162 Mail Received
7,804 Accepted into the Box
358 Rejected
4,138 Reservations Made
3,666 Applications Not Successful
The box is currently empty.

Thanks for the tips on White Mountain. I'll try to get there early. Last year I climbed Whitney by myself and this year I have three others joining me for a double climb. White Mountain on Aug 7th for the open house. Get a room at the hostel that night and the next. Pick-up our hopeful eek permits on the 8th and chill cool in the Alabama hills. Start our climb on the 9th and camp overnight sleep at outpost camp. Summit on the 10th. smile
I put in several days other than the 9th, but I am used to not getting permits from the lottery. I just wish I could get my letter so I can finalize my plans. If anybody wants to join along your more than welcomed.

I'm getting a little concerned here in HB. People around me are getting either rejection letters, their checks cashed and credit cards charged. As of today, I have yet to see a letter or my credit card charged. Looking at a copy of my application, all the t's are crossed and the i's dotted so...
Mountain gods, watch over my application so I don't have to drive up and hope for a walk in permit.

I'm in the exact same boat!! Here's to hoping they just haven't gotten to charging our cards yet for our approved permits (or that the cc is just slow to show the charges!!)

I'm in the same boat as well. One application has been rejected, but I can horn in on another which is still outstanding. That permit has not seen any activity at all. My bank (Wells Fargo) doesn't update check cashing or credit card activity until sometime in the evening. Nothing yet, but that seems to be good news. I haven't heard of a rejection going out in the last week. Has anyone else?

still waiting for a charge to hit my cc. Last year it hit March 31, so I'm still holding out hope. I put down several dates in early July with party sizes of 1 and 2.

Yipee! My check has cleared. I am so excited to share this wonderful experience again with my kids. Last year was a no-go due to ACL replacement. My new knee and I are ready to have some fun. I just hope it quits snowing by the time we hike in mid summer.

So excited!!! First time in ten years I have received a permit via the lottery! I have been to the summit five times with "no show" permits and look forward to doing it with time to plan! On a side note one of the hikers with me just had her dad pass away and this summit bid will be in dedication to him! smile

These permit emails are sort of like popcorn. A period of time with only a couple sporadic pops, and then, presto-bingo, the big aluminum dome has filled up and is ready to be taken off the campfire to be enjoyed. (Yeah, my kernel popped yesterday.)

Wow! I just received my permit today. I scored a hard to get weekend day...my first choice. I feel so lucky. This will be a family trip. I'm so excited. Now I just need to amp up my exercise program. I look forward to seeing many of you on the trail. The best part of hiking Mt. Whitney is the wonderful encouragement you get from those on the trail.

Still no word either by letter or by my cc being charged. Could it be that I'm 0-5 in the last 5 years because my wife and I want to take our time (2 nights). Is this a negative when filling out the application? A guy I teach with is 2 for 2 but he and his party do the trail in 1 day.

# days is not a factor. Only things are date of entry and number in party. 1 night or 10 nights doesn't matter. The quota is for the ENTRY day.

Well if he's referring to dayhike vs. overnight permits it does matter, since they issue 100 dayhike permits per day and 60 overnight permits. So your chances of getting a dayhike permit are better. If he's referring to just overnight permits and the # of nights requested then no, it doesn't make any difference.

The mountain gods were looking after me. My cc was charged today so I'm guessing it doesn't matter how many nights on the trail. I am now 1 for the last 6 years in getting a permit.
Let the work begin.
