Recently there was a Dodge Durango car ad filmed in Round Valley/Owens Valley. Now here's a Porsche Cayenne advertisement in Alabama Hills with Whitney behind. There is also a video of the Cayenne driving around http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/suv/...enne/index.htmlpicturesque area for ads/movies no surprise

Hi Thanks Harvey for posting the add, . They shot some footage just before the campground in the Portal the same time. Another car company had set up lunch at the store that day and thought maybe it would snow so called and said they would come another time , around noon this crew came in . The Alabama Hills gets a lot of use for background shots . Thanks Doug

Dear h_lankford,
I loved the picture of my beloved mountain. Mt. W is a special area. Thats why I love Iron Man so much, along with any other movies where the Mtn stars.
Keeping posting the pics!

Not sure if anyone here watches "The Event" on NBC. If not, the March 7, 2011 episode prominently featured the Eastern Sierra as the "Himalayan Mountains." The Alabama Hills, Mt. Whitney and the Needles are very visible/prominent in the background. Definitely a highlight during an otherwise lame show. Here's the link to watch (fast forward to 5:28): http://www.nbc.com/the-event/video/and-then-there-were-more/1312523.

That's weird, the launchpad/space portal thing wasn't there the last time I drove to the Portal...

If we can't put alternative energy out in the ugly desert, where are we going to put it?

Hi td When you drive out check by Delta .South of town and several miles west. Same design, it was part of the MX system but later turned into landing pads for craft missing area 51.Maybe closer to Milford. Doug

That could also double as the world's biggest tablet-fuel stove base.

Yeah, I am amazed how often I see this magnificent range in commercials and movies. This is even more surprising given how little TV I watch per week (3 hours max) and how seldom I get to the theater. I guess my eye is constantly on the lookout - especially during car commercials.

If we can't put alternative energy out in the ugly desert, where are we going to put it? In the ugly cities that waste 50% of their supply in the first place...Let the mass population confront the consequences of wanton waste first hand,up close and personal.Maybe then conservation will seem more appealing?
Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.
