The site has been disrupted a bit by the winds, go to the FORECASTS BUTTON.

dmatt,

Any confidence Mammoth's snowfall total for this season will set a record? (i.e. beat the season high -- in past 40 years -- of 578.54 inches)

Less than 100 inches to go,

Yes, right now they are sitting at 499 inches. The way it goes here, its hard to say. But, right now, the long range forecasts are indicating above normal precipitation for Mammoth for the next few weeks.

As of Monday, Mammoth stands at 530 inches. Pretty exciting indeed! 49 inches more to break the record.

Sights set on 600 inches,

I am very saddened by the loss of home, property and the Big Pine Tree. So many beautiful trees up there, I like to go and take pictures of them in the different seasons. I hope no one lost their life and kudos to the volunteers and the others who help out in these horrible events.

Yes very sad indeed.

Who would ever thought Mammoth would be approaching a record during a La Nina year.

From my wife and me on the "Westend," we hope all are safe. We wish we can send some of this storm your way to assist the fire crews.

I just learned of a fire (was told in Lone Pine) this past week. Where can I find information about it? Was it Big Pine or Lone Pine? Thanks, Mrogue.

It was Big Pine. A good source of news in the Eastern Sierra is the Sierra Wave.
