There was an avalanche on Main Trail
about 2 miles up before Lone Pine Lake.
A tree and rocks obscure the trail. It will
take some hunting and going off the trail in snow
to find it.
I decided not posthole my way to look for it.
Not sure if the Forest Service is aware of this slide.
There are several areas above this slide where one
can lose the trail due to the snow. Perhaps they are
waiting for the snow to melt to begin trail clearing?
It's time to head back down to the store for a burger and
A cold one. I can find that easily. LOL!

Unreal. When I was there last June, I got off the trail in this same area and was "lost" for a few minutes. I waited and followed some hikers that eventually came close to where I was. In my opinion, it is easy to get off the main trail. I am used to more obvious trails in the Grand Canyon and Yosemite.
