I summited late June 06. Still lots of snow then and we took the Shoot up. For me it was very steep and scary demanding all my concentration. Desending we opted for the switchbacks... worried about the ice and becoming a fatality. Prior to this we got stuck in some lighting on the top and in the mad scramble to get off, my poles snapped and were rendered useless. Luckily I had my ice axe to help me make the section to the switchbacks. Needless to say my pucker factor was on max overdrive while I crossed that section with only my humble ice axe keeping me tied in to the side with each step. Hope I don"t have to deal with that next week

Bump.

Anyone been there lately ? Pics ? I did see a bunch of pics of the MR (most parts are devoid of snow), but I would like to get some info. on the conditions at the Chute in the main trail (from Trail Camp to Trail Crest). Is there enough snow to go up the chute ? Also how is the snow on the main trail in general ?

Just did it last Sunday, the 19th. Loved it, even though many people made it thru the switchbacks, I feel lucky enough to do the chute smile

I don't know how to post pics on this forum.
