This cartoon looks to be 1950s. Check out the rendering of Mount Whitney about 1:30 into the cartoon, very funny!

Not quite an accurate drawing of Mt. Whitney. A humorous cartoon none the less! If you get all the way to the end of the cartoon you'll see a drawing that's much closer to the real thing.

For someone with your familiarity of every rock, shrub, nook & cranny on the eastside, it made me chuckle. (I'm not much for the westside myself---I had to scour the memory banks as to why the cartoon looked vaguely familiar...)

Yeah I don't get to the west side of Whitney very often these days. It almost requires an exit over Trail Crest and down the Main Trail and guide services still aren't allowed on that trail.
