Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Whitney Zone From the HST?

Could someone please explain to me just how this works....If I enter the Whitney Zone from hiking the HST..do I need a separate permit to enter it? Or will the permit I get starting out at Crescent Meadows cover entering it?

All you need is the entry permit from Crescent Meadows, with Whitney Portal as your exit point.

When is your trip? Note the HST discussion under "West Side routes"

Your confirmation letter and presumably your permit will actually read "Exit: [date] Trail Crest/ Mt Whitney" because that is your exit from Sequoia NP. But it is all you need for Whitney from HST. Just make sure when you pick up your permit in SEKI it has the Whitney designation on it.

I am not sure yet if I am going to be able to do the trip...but I am hoping I can make it happen....it would be in August when I go.
