Hey folks, if anyone lives north of the area, has a big truck/van/whatever you can squeeze a stinky backpacking crew in...

We are hiking Lyell Canyon route to Half Dome/Yosemite Valley, three days after the shuttle stops :-(

If anyone is free on the evening of October 3, and can take $$ and gas money, we could sure use the ride back to our cars at Tuolumne. We are trying to avoid the car drop/switch, back and forth just to set it all up.

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to add.
Much appreciation!

Just a thought - what if you leave your car in the Valley and take Yarts to Tuolumne the last day they run - then your car will be there waiting for you - (oops, just re-read your post, your departure is 3 days after, sorry)
I have had reasonable luck hitching a ride in the park with my pack (getting from one TH to another) -
One tip though, try to catch a shower at Curry Village when you come out, so the nice people that give you a ride won't be sorry they did.
Good luck
Dave

If your pack is not too heavy and you have a day, hike back on the JMT.
Or go up the Yosemite Falls trail to Hwy 120 (west of Porcupine Flat) its less trail miles, and hitch a ride to the parking lot.
I have done both in October in one day about the same period you are planning. The temperature was comfortable hiking. No problem catching a ride. The bus was done for the season.

Thanks guys for the suggestions! The shower in Curry is a definite now that I think about it! We are going to try all sorts of things, get a little creative, and enjoy it. If we get off the trail early enough we can hike back (thanks for the suggestion). Or at least some of the way. Most of us get to go back to work Tuesday! Weekend hiking warriors!

Appreciate it!

Hey fellow hikers, if anyone can help us grab a ride next weekend in the Yosemite area, would be appreciated! We can do either 09/30 (we will be gearless, clean, and HAPPY!) from the Valley to Tuolumne, or 10/03 from the Valley to Tuloumne. If we do Friday, we can leave our car, and start hiking and be HAPPY! Thank you in advance for any and all help!!!
