Hubby and I needed a vacation so we went up to climb Mt. Shasta. We started from Bunny Flats (who named that trail?) and camped just below Helen Lake at 9,400 ft. We stepped-off at 2:30 AM and summited at 7:30 AM. At the summit(14,179 ft)we had a fantasic view and only a whisper of wind Got back to the trailhead by 2:30 PM. Overall, it was a great climb and a wonderful break.
For an Everest vet a mere 14er like Shasta is like a pre-run warm-up for you Cindy. You missed the epic weather that Whitney experienced, thank goodness.Glad you had a nice walk. Thanks for sharing.
Even after Everest, Shasta was still a work-out considering I broke my leg 4 months ago and haven't been training much. It's sure great to be back on the hills!
