Two of us are doing O.V to W.P. on 14th Sept. I am trying to figure out how much fuel to take for a MSR Pocket Rocket.
I want to allow for 7 days - breakfast = 2 cups of coffee,
afternoon = 2 cups of tea (we're English!!!), evening = dried food pouch for 2 and 2 cups of hot choc.(with brandy!!)

Also - Anyone driving from W.P. (or L.P.) to O.V. on 14th Sept?

Is there anyplace 'local' that rents out a Spot tracker for a week.

Thanks.

Nick.

That sounds like 9 or 10 cups of boiling water per day. I'd estimate about 50 grams of fuel per day, provided it isn't really windy and you don't let it boil unnecessarily. It would be better if you calibrated this yourself since it varies depending on your stove and pot and exactly what you do.

The medium size canisters are about 220g of fuel each, so that would give you four days per canister, or two of that size for the trip. You could also take one tall one but it's nice to have two so that you can get a better sense for how you're burning through it.

My best guess. Good luck.

It sounds like your cooking habits are similar to mine. For that stove, I would take two 8oz (225g) canisters, and there will be about half of one of those canisters left over when you exit. Make sure they are isobutane/propane (most brands are these days).

I've gotten 5 days out of a can solo (noodles and such). Should be good with 2 cans. For me, I take a can for every 4 days. If I don't use one, someone heading out might.

Why Yes, I am crazy. I'm just not stupid.
