Weather is a crapshhot but what experiences have you folks had in October in this area? More rain than not? Snow?
I'm sure I'll have to check gameday weather to be safe.

We stayed at Horseshoe and day hiked to Cottonwood lakes in early Oct 2009. The weather was windy and cool during the day and in the 20s at night. No rain or snow at that time. From the various posts I'm seeing this year, Winter could come early.

I'm doing a hike out of Horseshoe Meadow on Saturday. Shoot me a PM on Sunday, and I'll let you know what the conditions are.

The weather report is looking good there this weekend. I will be hiking at Horseshoe Meadow Friday and up to Lone Pine Lake on Saturday.

Stayed at Horseshoe Meadows Friday night and hiked up to Long Lake Saturday, did a New Army to Langley side hike, back to Long for Saturday camp, then out Sunday. GORGEOUS weather! Not a cloud in site. The campsite at Horseshoe was chillier than the night at Long Lake, but probably 15+ degrees. WE were shocked, but could not have asked for a more amazing weekend with PERFECT weather and conditions.
