Today a friend of mine, Christopher Sunnen from San Diego, went missing. He left a disturbing post on his Facebook. He is a very experienced alpinist and a nice guy. Please be on the lookout for his vehicle at any trailheads.

Grey 2008 SCION xD License Plate# 6EPC150 w/ Silver 16" aftermarket wheels

Some friends created a group on Facebook to consolidate information. https://fbcdn-profile-a.akamaihd.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/261077_229402480460064_1602319451_n.jpg

If you spot the vehicle, please notify rangers or local law enforcement. Several agencies have already been notified.

That link has nothing to do with Facebook. I hate to ask this question of what looks like a good attempt at helping a person, but is this bogus? Your link looks like a phishing attempt.

Yes, I met Chris last June at the IAVC picking up my permit and then along the trail the following day. He used to be a backcountry ranger for Yosemite years ago.

No luck so far.

He's been found and okay!! His post from his facebook:

Quote:
It's been a strange 48 hours, but the bottom line is that I made a colossal mistake. That, and I am fine. Everyone is fine. I feel profoundly ashamed at what I have put everyone through, and all I can say is that I will have to live with it. I am deeply regretful for my actions, and I am overwhelmed by the response here. At this point, I will be taking the time to get help, so I may not respond to your message promptly. I am touched more than I can express about this and, sorry. I love you all and I'll talk to you in the future.

At the risk of "outing myself" if he's ever interested in going to a meeting (recovery) I'd be glad to take him, and there are a significant amount of places here in the OC for both detox and short/long term recovery homes - just want to be of service to my fellow man, LMK if I can help. We have a saying in recovery, 9 out of 10 times when someone takes there own life during duress or under the influence, they are "Killing the wrong Person" - not being flippant, just the truth.

Please let your amigo Chris know he aint gotta thing to be ashamed of. Life is tuff, life is painful. We all have been there at one point or another, and some, like myself, hell, am slower at crawling out of the ditches than some. May he know that all humanity can have the same struggles. It don't matter what continent, background, amount of money one makes. Life can suck, PERIOD. Chris is a memeber of the human family and we are ecstatic he was found.
Our hearts were heavy for him, and now things should be lookin up for this hombre.
He just has gotta get a few more years under his belt till he gets like us O.G.'s and just says "the hell with it" and moves on to a new start brought on by the rest of the "tomorrows". Yea, if ya gotta know, "Annie" was one of my favorite movies!
Good luck to ya buddy!
Hu
