That's amazing Richard! I'm curious... what is your record time? (this may have already been asked, but I don't remember seeing it)

I'm pretty sure this 5:15 up and 9:54 round-trip is the fastest I've ever done the mountain in winter. I've done 3:24 up the MR in summer. Fastest round-trip is somewhere around 7.

Thanks.

So, what's on my mind this morning?
- I really like the new truck
- Wish xSpedy, Bracci, RG, RK, or Myles were along
- MT today because of potential snow.
- I hope it holds off 'Gil I'm on the way down.
- I really want this one.

I brought one of the MCs 'cause I don't want to pull a Bruno.

Whoa... there's some wild-looking clouds showing on the web-cam just now! Take care Richard.

Hi Tracie,
I did everything I could.
Ask Doug Sr.
Nobody can stop him.

Richard, Congratulations again.
We have to ask you to show us a proof of origin of your body parts. You could be an alien from outer space. I told you.
I hiked Mt. Baldy today with my genuine Made in Earth body parts.
All parts are well used but they held up all right today.

Thanks everybody.

NOAA's forecast showed a weather window after some morning showers. They never happened down low.

NOAA said something like gusts to 30. KLOA said gusts to 85. They were much closer to being right... I'd guess up in the 70s up and over the crest. It wasn't that cold though (although the hands went numb again while I was up high), so it wasn't that bad.

Two climbers did the Switchbacks. When the popped into the Hut, I asked them how it was. "Exposed" was their answer.

Here are a couple of photos since it really wouldn't make any sense to post a conditions report:

Pretty sunrise.

The view from Trail Camp.

There are a few more here .

LOL one day when you bag Whitney on a Friday you should come down to either Holcomb or JT and I'll buy the beers! I'm not coming up there until late August. I'm taking my bosses Boss up Mt Langley...I told him if I don't get that raise it's A LONG WAY DOWN!!!!

Again good job on the streak, Amazing!

Get Shin and King Arthur to come along and I'll add it to the schedule.

I'm up at the wilderness sign and there are already tracks. About 4-6" down at the Store and thigh deep drifts. Guessing it's deep up high.

Back down below the wilderness entry.

Made Trail Camp. Put in a double-wide track. Two foreign climbers consolidating the track. Cool!

Richard, about how much new snow was there at Trail Camp? Seems like this was the biggest storm for a couple of months. I live in southern Nevada, and the local mountains got about 16" of new snow.

Not nearly as much as was forecast. I was consistently "postholing" to about my calf with 25" snowshoes on. Guessing that there was about 1 1/2 feet up there. The wind was doing a good job of blowing a lot of snow to the "east."

I'll have photos posted in another thread later.

Richard,

How was the road up to the store? Was it drivable? If not how far was the walk up?

Thanks

There was a Subaru Outback up at the Trailhead Parking when I got back down. I don't think I could have made it up in the morning because of the new snow (about 4" on the road) and ice, but most of the snow exposed to sun was gone in the afternoon.

So, what's on my mind this morning:

- its awful warm in town for it to be sub-0 on the summit.
- wind from the sw is wind at your back.
- looking forward to getting this done and spending the weekend w/ the family.
- might go up the MR. I'll post from lbsl if I do.
