A definite classic! Here are a few of my pics. Richard coming up the first pitch. It was a little cold and windy. Richard was all bundled up. Richard coming up to the base of the PeeWee (P5). The PeeWee. I think this is the traverse on P7. Richard coming up to the talus field. The last pitch. Richard getting ready to top out. Good times! Thanks again for all the good belays and for a memorable trip, Richard! Here are the rest of the pics: http://ryanbracci.smugmug.com/Hiking/2012/WhitneysEastButtress6-15-16-12

Congratulations to Ryan and Richard. Enjoyed your pictures very much.
Ryan, you added a new way to climb Mt. Whitney. I know for sure that you will climb different routes in the future soon. All of us are proud of you.
Richard, you are a man of many surprises. Do you fly with a body suit?
Looking forward to your next adventure.

Thanks Tracie, Rosie, Shin and again Ryan...
Nice set of photos!
So, here's a list of what I've done in the past few years... - Stemwinder twice (with KW and RG) - East Face (with Myles) - Cathedral Peak (with BP) - East Buttress (with Bracci)
I was amazed at how easy the climbing came back to me while on the route. I'm proud of myself for staying calm and being able to "take it all in" and enjoy the views. Also happy I didn't need any "tension" for any of the moves and didn't slip/fall. I cussed at the Sailplane Pilot as he buzzed Whitney because the first time he came by, the "wooooooosh" scared the crap out of me.
I think the next time I volunteer to second for someone, I really will try and get some practice in before-hand. (Many body parts are in need of replacement two days later...)
Amazing weekend!

Glad I wasn't in the middle of a tricky move. You did really good, Richard, especially for not climbing in a year... Everything but the near slip at the top on the 5.10 variation.

Thanks for reminding me...
I postholed on Whitney this past weekend...
Maybe 15' below the summit, on what McNamara calls 4th Class, was a move that required a GIANT's reach. I couldn't get the bomber hold, so I stepped on some snow, thinking I could get to the hold, and promptly sank about a foot into it. Now my shoes are wet and colder and I had to figure out how to jam the crack to get a hand up to the hold. Yeah right, 4th class, my ***! More like 5.10 at 14.5K! :-)

Congrats Ryan & Richard, and thanks for sharing the great pics I’m stuck in jury duty, so at least I have some cool photos to look at. BWT, Richard, you aren’t thinking of starting a WPSMB group climb of the E-Butt in the future are you

Hey Rick, I'm glad it you who is stirring up some potential controversy.
So here's the plan: fix rope all the way up the route (Myles can do it for us). The only requirement to participate is knowledge of the use of a Prusik. We can then all pretend to be Wes The Gimp, Oneway, etc...

WOW Richard! You might have to start a whole new thread instead of "Where's Richard" to "How many different routes are there to the Summit - Richard"
Great job both you!
BTW, how many routes are there to the summit? Anyone know?
Why Yes, I am crazy. I'm just not stupid.

Thanks.
All I know is that Myles is SO jealous that I've done more routes on Whitney than him, that he's heading up for something called Hairline...
I still want to find out what the Bannana Route is... I'd like to do a repeat of that one. It's somewhere on the west side.
