Lubken Canyon Road. The intersection is at the Boulder Creek RV park.

If you're thinking that you'll save significant time by taking the shortcut, you're thinking wrong. For about half of its length, Lubken Canyon is basically a 1-lane (not 1 lane each way; 1 lane, period.) Pavement isn't great, you'll be going at most 25 mph, and, if you meet another adventurous driver like yourself who's headed in the opposite direction, getting past each other will take some effort.

That road is worth taking just for that view.

I always take Lubken Cyn Rd whenever possible. I love that little road and the views it provides. Plus, there is a fun dip close to Horseshoe Meadow Road that makes me squeal like a kid.

Some of the Lubken locals

p.s. Beautiful shot, Frank!

Thanks to both of you for sharing those wonderful photos. The next time I drive up to Horseshoe Meadows I'll be driving that road instead of driving into Lone Pine.

We drive that road every chance we get...just so we can enjoy that scenery. One of the prettiest spots in/around Lone Pine!
