Thanks, Shin. I feel a little bit better now. I'm not too concerned about driving on wet roads, but since we'll be getting there so early the roads could be icy. I look forward to your report.

Tracie, I would like to ride up the hill with you. Where and what time should I meet you?

Anyone think there is any point in bringing snowshoes? They are bulky and heavy and I am flying. I am bringing 'spikes and 'pons..... Appreciate any thoughts from folks in the field. Sadly, I cannot see Baldy (or Russia) from my house.

Snowshoes will not be needed. If they were, just hang near the back and let everyone else do all the work laugh

Unfortunately I have other plans this weekend and won't be able to make it.

Congrats, Shin!

Hi Akichow,
Please travel light. You don't need snowshoes on Mt. Baldy.
I only used it once in last 8 years.
Jeff S. will break a trail for you so don't worry.
Have a nice flight and looking forward to WPSMB family hike.

Is it too late to join this hike? New to the board (so to speak) and I'd love to hike with you all. I'm in Ridgecrest, and will drive down Sat. morning. My winter gear consists of microspikes, will that be enough considering the snowfall?

Hey Ross,

No worries. We meet at 615 start hiking at 6:30. I'm going to be hiking with the slow group I haven't hiked since October and am out of shape. Snow shoes leave in the garage where they have been for 2 years so cal has been in bad drought. We got 4-5" of snow which won't require snow shoes... Heres' a link to the baldy cam....

Hey Everybody I say this in Friday good Humor so relax:

Here's how we will line up:

Shin will be out front so he'll lead the front group, Me Arthur and Curtis will bring up the rear!

So since Shin, Me Arthur and Curtis are all Conservative Republicans we'll keep the Democrats who voted for Obama in the middle of the pack so we Honest Conservatives can keep an eye on ya!!!!!

LOL This should start some good conversation...

Does this mean we'll be avoiding any fiscal cliffs? I don't want to have to use my ice tax.

Thanks Jeff! Looking forward to celebrating Shin's 300th and getting to meet you all. I've hiked Baldy twice before. But not in snow. Will the roads be good?

Ross sometime in the afternoon Shin will have an update on the road conditions.....I don't own chains never have never will unless one day Joshua Tree needs chains but since I believe in Global Warming doubt I will ever need chains in JT...I plan on getting there early and drive as far as i can and will park where I have too and hitch a ride if need be. We have for this group about 40 people so just stick your thumb up and wave at the passing cars!!!! Someone from the WPSMB will pick you up. But not Shin for a 6:30am start Shin will be there at 6am he is always 1/2 hr early...

Great glad to hear no chains needed (don't have any and not gonna buy any). I'll plan to get there around 5:45-6:00. Traffic should be light. I think it's about 2 hrs to get there.

political commentary delted...

I'm leaving snowshoes, crampons, ice axe, etc behind... I'm having problems deciding how many down jackets I should carry?
