Patrick (Lilbitmo) and I dayhiked Mt. Whitney and several needles & pinnacles last Friday (April 27th). We went up the Main Trail and down the Mountaineers Route. Here are some photos....they are all here: http://calicokat.smugmug.com/Hiking/Sierra-Nevada/Mt-Whitney-Mt-Muir-Keeler/29141953_RV9zBt#!i=2487945662&k=Qnh7nRJ

Nice Pics Jim! Who is that in blue jeans and T shirt on the final 400? Looks like a great day. Love the pic of Patrick praying to the Goddess of Keeler!

It's Bryan, he was one of the two Marines that we lead down the MR. They just returned from Afghanistan and were on their first ever climb of Whitney up the main trail. They asked if we knew of a shorter route back to the cars and we said sure we'll be glad/honored to show you the MR route. They had a blast and so did we.

The praying was me holding on as there's some serious exposure at the jump across point between the head wall and that summit block, do you like that fancy nalgene bottle carrying display smile ?

The other marine was a Mike, we thanked them both for serving, they were some strong young men enjoying the beauty of our Sierra's.

We stayed the night at the campground Friday night the 26th and hiked on the 27th (not that it matters but we introduced ourselves to some nice people and if they are trying to match up the date to who we are don't want them to be confused).

Also note that if the SAR guy from New Mexico (Chris with friend Bryan I believe is reading this that I met the previous week the 20th) I'm Patrick that you met at Iceberg Lake and we chatted all the way up the chute to just below the last 400 when your friend became ill from altitude sickness and you headed out.

Let me know the next time you are coming to So. Cal or headed out to the Sierra's we can go do something fun or if you need to carpool or whatever, let me know.

Great fun was had on both trips, dry dry year, pray for more snow smile
