Really not too much snow until above trail camp...and was melting pretty quickly...

A picture is worth ...... A Video to the tenth power You were able to catch the mountain in true form, stream crossings, logs and the chute, snow conditions and grant FINISH or better stated START! Thank you for sharing your day. Doug

Hey Matt--
Thanks for the great video, and congrats on the summit and the YES!! Quick question-- my daughter and I are going to be climbing Whitney the end of next week and were interested in the conditions and difficulty of the slope between Trail camp and Trail crest. Did ya'll use crampons, microspikes, or other? Any additional info you have from Trail camp to summit would be helpful. Thanks for you help in advance.

We wore crampons from the base of the slope above trail camp up to trail crest. It was probably around noon as we went up and the snow was still pretty firm. From that point to the summit was a rocky snow covered trail which required no crampons but heads up. It was soft on the way down and we just slid/ran down the slope, no crampons needed. I would guess most of the snow is off the trail now.
