Making a trip up this weekend. We're thinking that we wont have much/any trouble getting to Shepherd's Pass as far as snow goes. Im guessing that Williamson's West Coulior will be a dry sand-slog and we're hoping that Tyndall's North Rib will be dry to.

Anybody been up there lately? Thoughts?

This is what they looked like from the summit of Whitney on Sunday.

There is less snow this year, and when I crossed the Pass last year a little earlier, it was only mildly difficult, in that I had to find an alternate away from the trail.

I do remember thinking that the North Rib on Tyndall would be sketchy still, with a bit of snow...

Please post a trip report - I'll be heading up there in about a month an a half (so I know snow will be much less/gone by then).

Completed the tandem this past memorial weekend. There is a short 120 foot snow patch that you'll need to cross on Shepherds pass that is rather easy if you allow a little mid morning snow softening. All clear in the north rib of Tyndall. The rocky rib is all clear for fun climbing. The west side of Williamson only has a small patch of snow that is easily avoided. Unless the weather changes there is no need for an ice axe or crampons. Enjoy!

Shot in the dark, on the way by did you happen to see the condition of the snow field on the East slopes of Versteeg? That field typically lasts a bit longer but it sure looks dry up there...
