Thor sounds great! Looking at end of September (family member's b-day is on the 30th). Maybe 2 group hikes so that more of the 'crew' can participate...

I know you're referring to me, but with the 'stache and the crinkled eyebrows, it reminds me of Doug when he's asking about why some people don't understand the obvious... and yes, sometimes he's referring to me...

We'll have a good time... whatever ends up happening.

Hi Full moon Oct. 19 ,we have never had a moon light hike and late enough we could have snow cover and the walls on fire.
This could be a before or after the day hike and pot luck hike say either to town on the NRT or up to Lone Pine Lake ????
Another option is Suicide Col or at least to the base and the few that may want to do the last several hunderd feet that would be a chance to touch the shore of Tuleinyo. Thanks Doug

That's why it's best to check with the boss. I and some of the horde will be there.

Now, the question is, what to do with the rest of the day(s)...

Doug good idea but it would be cool to check with MC(Referring to date).....If we are going to have a big one like we did back in 2009 it would be awesome if we schedule it around everybody's favorite sister MC!!!!

Gosh darn, I thought I left the popularity contests days back in high school. MC, I love you girl, but I cannot pick a favorite among my mountain sisters and brothers.

I'd really like to do the full moon hike as proposed by Doug. To wander around the Alabama Hills or up to LPL lit up in eerie blue calm ... yeah, I'm there. Hey MC, other folks, whaddya say?

I was joking with Doug yesterday evening in the kitchen...

I love the idea of the Thompson Trail (down to Lone Pine) by moonlight...

I get to carry a shotgun to protect the group from rattlesnakes...:-) :-) :-)

Also, if on one of the other days, we head up to Suicide (aka Clever Col), Jeff (either one) and others can carry gear... The Cleaver supposedly has some real cool routes. Anyone else, looking for a little more adventure could do Suicide -> Russell/Carillon Loop...

Hey gang! Just saw Doug's post… My aunt (and godmother) died yesterday and I've been dealing with this loss. She lived in NYC and thankfully, Dave & I saw her last month on our way home from the Caribbean. Our flight had a 1:20 hour layover at JFK… decided to make it a 4 day layover. Grateful we had that time with her!

Thanks Jeff, for the sweet words. We are all Doug's children. smile The proposed full moon hike sounds amazing. I will try to plan my trip for that time but if not, I may see some of you end of September. I am overdue for the Sierra... And I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Now off to hike Sunrise Peak with Dave.
Keep climbing! MC

Maybe a Baldy Group Hike if you can't make this one?

Hey RP,

I've told MC on Facebook when she comes down I'm in 100% for the Baldy hike, and 90/10 for No Cal......

Thank you so much, Richard.
I am trying to squeeze too much into my trip south: business, family, Sierra & possibly Baldy. Kind of like trying to watch the TV show 60 Minutes in a half hour. wink Hoping to finalize plans soon.

Great to pop in on everyone this week/end and enjoy so many happy faces in wonderful places.

But I digress from the topic at hand;

Doug has suggested October the 19th on the full moon (bwaaaaaahhaaahaaahaaaaaa)
The 19th falls on a Saturday. Thanks for the great planning, moon!

It sounds perfect - Mc, if you can not make it down for the full moon hike - we can still have an "MC comes to Baldy/SoCal hike". (Yeti - you best make it after all the noise you have been creating..)

So shine up your moons and make them full - cause this is going to be um....um...heavenly?

(hey, I didn't say anything about celestial bodies..)

I think costumes would be fun also - class1 fun.
