We're spending 3 nights in the Emigrant Wilderness in August and if all goes well will be heading to Whitney in early Sept. For the past 2 1/2 years he's been fighting brain cancer, but is well enough to make this trip happen in a few weeks. My wife is worried about us so I want to take a SPOT along. Any recommendations for places to rent them? Not sure how this trip will go and am already buying lots of gear for Tyler, so don't have the funds right now to buy and pay for the unit and service. Cristobal Member Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 56 San Diego	You might want to look at a marine-style personal locator beacon, like this: http://www.boatus.com/foundation/epirb/ I'm not an expert on this topic by any means, but I believe these devices are generally regarded as more reliable than SPOT, and they are available for rental.

It "connects" with your smart phone and can be used everywhere, sea, summit & sity (city) But to actually answer your question: I googled Spot Satellite rental - several sites were returned.
