Patchy ice and snow before north fork, very warm 50 degree at 1100 hrs, just before the last creek crossing to lone pine lake very soft sugar cube snow!!! Snow cones anyone. Snow was not compact able at all. Turned around at 10000 ft, started breaking through the hard crust, up to my waist!! Came down using crampons, slush sliding.
