I was hoping to climb Langley this weekend, but looks like the road won't be open. Was thinking about exploring the Meysan Lakes area instead, and perhaps bagging Lone Pine Creek. Anyone know what the conditions are like up there now, either for LPP or camping by the lakes?
I'm assuming you want to bag Lone Pine Peak as opposed to Lone Pine Creek?? Two friends of mine climbed the North Ridge of Lone Pine Peak yesterday and rappelled the route. They used low top approach shoes up to the start of the rock climb. Farther up the canyon you'll find snow. If you're planning on climbing the peak via Meysan Lakes the chute will have snow in it. The snow conditions in that canyon can be variable ranging from good consolidated snow to rotten sections. Snow seems to be melting fast below 10,000' and above there it's also melting but at a much slower rate.
