My wife and I did a one day Mt. Langley summit from Horseshoe Meadows on July 4. Perfect conditions, not a cloud in the sky all day with a nice breeze. Imagine our surprise to be greeted at the top with Mt. Whitney looming in the background and Ranger Tor Skeen waving a beautiful American flag to welcome us. Quite a moment after a 10.5 mile slog. We encountered only one snow section near the top of Army Pass that covers about 30 yards and didn't pose much danger if carefully navigated with planted poles on the downhill side. We crossed it with running shoes and others also had no problem with it. I'm sure it will be gone in 2 weeks.
