We made our way to Meysan Lake for the holiday. A trip report with pictures can be found here:

Thank you, FlaG8R. We will likely be retiring to the Florida East Coast in a couple of years - Jensen Beach. Since the state is flat as a board, is there any good hiking? I figure I will be trading rattlesnakes for pythons and lizards for alligators.

Beautiful colors in those pictures.

I have hiked MW many times, but never been to Meysan Lake. What is the approximate mileage of this hike?

Thanks.

It's an 11 mile round trip that gains 3500 feet. The trail is in great shape. We passed a forest service trail crew. They fixed all the washed out spots.

If anyone doesn't secure a permit for MW, this is a great option to enjoy the Sierra and...

have fun.

It is the "best kept secret" around the Portal area.

Guess you didn't come across Grouchy Grouse...probably a good thing. It has been known to peck at humans who wander into its territory. It is a bird Alfred Hitchcock would love...

Great pictures and enjoy your retirement in the Sunshine State.

Journey well...
