Doug Sr Member Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,012 Likes: 3 Whitney	Hi Quick update not very nice Sunday/ Monday for the shorts people light breeze,hail and snow.Yesterday wind tapered off in the afternoon so what we have now is the cold air mass behind the storm. As always bring a jackets and may be some long pants and a snack. Big week ahead group of wounded warriors coming out Friday and a wedding. Our big feed is on Saturday 20 Sept this year so if you are in the area stop in .Also planning a Birthday party/ hike or what ever will be on the weekend of Oct.24-27 so as weather permits we will do a snow hike or desert walk?????? Shin says his big hike for 4000000 will be after the first of the year , I thought maybe we could fit it in with the Hero's hike It's up to Shin but just saying! Well stay safe where ever you may travel .Thanks Doug

Doug Sr Member Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,012 Likes: 3 Whitney	Hi Sam 43 years ago we started a surveyors cookout and over the years just moved it up to the portal it's a potluck or just come and eat till the food runs out we do several roasts, several yard birds, a case or two of corn, watermelons ,salads etc.and always many deserts.

It was a tough drive down to the valley floor from the Portal with the torrential rain that accompanied the light show. It lasted almost all the way home to Ridgecrest. The photos are awesome!
