Three of us are going for our 5th attempt. We have made it to the site once out of the previous 4 tries. We know the route now, and are training again for this butt-kicker. Even knowing the route is no guarantee of making it. Nothing really technical, but almost every single step is steeply up.

There was too much snow cover for us to see too much of the site (June last year) last time we were there. We only saw about 5% of the wreckage. It was very surreal and thought-provoking to see and hold shoes and luggage, some with working zippers. (Of course, everything was put back.)

I don't know why I am posting this. I am not really inviting anyone along, but if an interested party or someone with a connection with the flight wants any info, let me know.

I am sure I will take a lot more pics. I have looked at all the pics posted here and will try to get pics of stuff not previously posted.

A few pics from last time:

Didn't see the register. Saw a small memorial. Pics to follow.

We did it. Grueling, grueling hike. Will post pics. Amazingly complete wreckage. And, soberingly, we found human remains.

Sounds fascinating (and sobering). Would enjoy seeing pictures if you still plan to post them.

Here are the pics with descriptions. Feel free to ask questions. I swear off this hike every year, and then for some reason need to go back the following year.

We found the two beach rocks, and I just noticed in pics a canister on top of the rear of the fuselage. Was it in there? Pics posted below.
