Saw the film "Touching the Void" last night. Very gripping story of two climbers who have an accident on a very remote Peruvian Peak and how they survived some incredible odds. The film is part dramatization by two actors but is narrated by the two real climbers and a 3rd party who was peripherally involved.
And the Joe Simpson, the climber who was severely injured was at the screening and answered questions after it concluded.
I read "Touching the Void". I'm sure it's the same story. That book scared me and nearly gave me nightmares. I couldn't believe someone could live through that. I'd recommend the book.
If you thought that one gave you climbing nightmares, try reading Tales From The Steep. It is a collection of some of the most harrowing mountaineering stories in history, each of them hairier than the last.
