The sad fact is with no walk ins , no one knows how many permits are open each day until the day before, and IF people don't cancel this cheats people out side of the very locals of getting a permit and drive to the Mountain.
Also are the permits not issued the day before released online at a certain time , These are some of the wild cards from last season.
I understand not having staff to man the Visitor Center and the workload walk in permits create , online option would solve the problem if permit holders would cancel long before the entry date, and when the group size changes. Opening up for others .
With the lockdowns now on camping/dayuse and travel we are in for a very rough early season. Stay tuned as we get closer to May 1.
Hopefully some of the issues from last season will be addressed.
