Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Reports on Horseshoe Meadows?

I believe the road closures are beyond / at Horseshoe Meadows Road, so I assume Horseshoe Meadows are still accessible? Any recent trip reports? Issues with smoke? Thanks! ...Sam

Finished 3 days camped at Lake 5 yesterday. No smoke. Up Army pass on Saturday then over to Upper Soldier Lake for lunch then back. Yesterday up to Mt. Langley...while Saturday was blustery yesterday was incredibly calm and warm. No signs of smoke toward Whitney, just miles and miles of BEAUTY!! Did NOT want to come down! Noticed on departure there was no road block on the Portal road by Horseshoe Meadows road...don't know how far you can go up but for Horseshoe Meadows, open and gorgeous!!
