Hi all, I love hiking to Mount Langley through Old Army Pass. It is a quicker and direct approach to the summit with beautiful lake views.

Does anyone know when it may be safe to hike via Old Army Pass. I've hiked New Army Pass before and found it to be a bit tedious and long.
Is there still snow/ice and when do you expect it to be safe?

Thank you for your advice!

I was up on Army Pass today...crossed 2 easy snowfields...stopped at the 3rd (probably 150-200 feet across) at about 11,400'...(no gear)

I'd say it's still "Gear Required." (At least poles and microspikes.)

There were plenty of tracks, so I'd guess people are making it up and down.

New Army Pass was still showing a cornice on top, but I couldn't say whether it is stopping people from crossing...
