Ansoncom,
This is the picture that Cal-hiker and I were taking about.I'm sure you will like it as much as we do. Be sure to thank Tomi.

Here is another good one, again from Tomi's webpage:

Tomi, where were you when you took these photo's? I'm assuming you were somewhere in the Alabama Hills.
Both these photo's are really excellent, you should most definately think about entering them in photo contests. If I took them I would.

Ok, my paranoia is beginning to take over since I haven't had my card charged and I haven't gotten a letter yet. Has anyone who requested a day hike received notification or a charge on their card or have they only processed the overnight trips? Thanks.

I'm gettin a little worried, no charges to my card yet. Does anybody know when the lottery finishes? And is it really that hard to get a mid week overnight in the end of June(1 or 8 or 9 choices.)?

I've had no luck either (thursday overnight permit for 6, Jul-Aug), and neither has a friend of mine (monday night for 4, Jul-Aug). Still have hope but if it doesn't happen, life goes on and so will I. Good luck to all.

Last year I asked for 2 nights for 4 people and finally got just that, but my permit confirmation letter arrived around the 5th of March so don't give up hope. The best way to get a permit is to be as flexible as possible on your application. This year I asked for any 2 nights for 4 people between June 1st and August 31st. Also, I told them I was willing to reduce my party down to 2 people if I had to. Give them lots of options and I think you have a much greater chance of getting a permit. I think the lottery goes from Feb. 15th to March 15th but don't hold me to the March 15th date I might be off. Click on the "Permit Info" link and you will find all the information you need. I WILL See you up there!

P.S. I haven't heard anything either.

Looks like I'll be making two trips to California this year! I had already received my permit from the Onion Valley-to-Whitney hike in July, and I just saw yesterday that my card was charged for the day-hike permit application that I had submitted for August.

We just got charged on the 25th. Most of my dates were day hikes for Labor Day weekend. Can't wait for the letter!

I received my "Permit Confirmation Letter" in the mail today. I was given 6/11(Fri), 6/12
(Sat), and 6/13(Sun) for 4 people. That is 3 years in a row for over night permits. See you on the mountain!!!

I still don't have mine, and since I sent a check I don't get that early "heads up" that the charge carders get! Maybe I'll do the card thing next year, but for now I'll just run to the mailbox while holding my breath on a daily basis. (Hey, come to think of it, that could be a good training tool!!!)

We learned today that we will be getting our permit for July 18-19 (which happens to be the 100 year anniversary of the completion of the trail)
My partner and I summitted Whitney for the first time last July, and while we made it to the top and got our picture taken, etc. I felt anything but triumphant. We did several things wrong and the result was one sick, demoralized and emotionally unstable summitteer. (me)
This time I hope to make it and have enough left to smile for the camera.
Good luck to all of you; hope to see some of you in Trail Camp.

I called the VISA people tonight and was told that a charge for $60.00 was made on my card. I got my day hike permit for four sometime in the last week of August!!! Can't wait to see what day I got. See you on the mountain.

Yipeee.... after a week and a half worrying that it wasn't going to happen...it looks like I'm heading back up. Card just got hit. If you've not received your letter or your bank hasn't been hit, don't despair. See you all on mt.
