I've scanned several pages of posts and haven't seen this topic...Are there potty's on the trail or do I have to do what bears do?

I know that they have outhouses at OutPost Camp and Trail Camp on the way up.

If you read "Whitney August 24 and 25" subject, they speak about a new outhouse that was placed up at Trail Camp because the solar bathroom was out of commission.. Not sure if its back and running but there are bathrooms. You will have to bring toilet paper...

For #2, there are toilets at Outpost Camp, toilets at Trail Camp, and a charming little dunny about 50 yards from the summit.

Otherwise, you're encouraged to NOT do what bears do and, if you have to go between these points, pack out your poop (bags available at the Lone Pine ranger station and, I believe, the trailhead, although I could be wrong about that).

When it comes to #1, DO do what bears do. Of course, bears don't know not to do it near a water source, and they don't know not to do it exactly where the rest of us will be stepping, and they don't know how to post lookouts.

Enjoy the view smile

I summitted Whitney 3 weeks ago, and Lone Pine Ranger Station didn't have any of the kitty litter bags for poop pack-out. If they do have them, take a couple. There were some left at Outpost camp at the little 'privy station', but you had to reach up into the holder to get them. There weren't any at Trail Camp, and the solar toilets were closed. Don't count on them! Besides, you can't pee in them anyway. Trail Camp smelled awful, which is a real shame, so plan ahead and find a far away rock. My partner decided that immodium was his method of choice, but I can't say I recommend that!

Thanks for all of the info. Thinking about going on a no-fiber diet for a few days....
