One of two requests I submitted was cashed by the NFS, I assume it was for my six-day hike from Cottonwood to the summit via Guitar Lake. Or maybe not. I put in both requests (one for the overnighter, the other for a day hike in early August).
One way or the other, I'm on my way toward the summit. I've learned not to expect a visit to the top and prefer having fun just getting there. Now the waiting and prep begins!

NFS actually had to call to ask why I put $15 instead of $5 on my permit request via Cottonwood Pass. Phone call will remedy the confusion on their end.
Well heck, at least I know I'm goin hikin one way or the other. Like you, I can't wait...
I'll let you know how far I get up the JMT from Happy Isles on Friday without any special equipment.

The charge showed up on my credit card....I wonder which of the 8 dates I got. I'm assuming the notify us by mail, even though they ask for a e-mail address.

I applied for a permit to the Mt. Whitney trail on 2/14. I want to know if I applied before the 2/15 deadline, should I already have had something taken out of my bank account or does this mean that I have to wait until next year?

Last year I entered the lotto for any day in Aug; promptly on Feb 15th a nice ****** dude called to ask just which fine day in August I'd like. This year I applied for any wkend in Sept. and no results yet, I'm heart-broken! However, it's quite possible to get a walk-on permit at the Lonepine ****** station the day you want to hike... b/c of no-shows, esp. toward end of the season. Chance you'll not get it, but makes for interesting road trip from Fresno.

Hi The blocked word list helps keep the board clean. The word you asked about is not the problem it is the words that are used before or after , tied to that word ,can be insulting or degrading.
Thanks Doug
