As I have been reading this forum for several months now I have made the observation that everyone here is pretty down to earth ... so I wanted to take a minute to intro myself - in case anyone will be up there during that same time frame.

We will be on the whitney trail june 12 - 15. Group of 5 of us. My two brothers, my uncle, and his son.

31, Brian, I live in Modesto, Ca... originally from San Jose, Ca.

Anyhow. I always enjoy meeting like-minded adrenaline junkies, so maybe we will see a few of you on the trail smile

Scuba:
I will be at Portal the night of 5/12. My permit is for the 13th, 14th and 15th. I will be at Outpost Camp on Monday night and will look to summit on the 14th.I was on the main trail last Sunday to about 9,700 feet. A lot of snow! Better plan on crampons, ice axe, and a lot of snow, probably from at least trail camp up, even though there will be significant melt by June 15th.
Good luck to you and your group.

First time to Mt Whitney for all of us. Should be loads of fun. Have heard reports that there is lots of snow. Should be interesting. smile

We may be staying at WP campground on Sat night and then from the 12th to the 15th... I think we will camp out when we get tired... I am not sure what we will feel like... most likely we will do trail camp and outpost camp... but then again... who knows.

Hey there, we'll be heading up on the 13th also. Hopefully to Trail Camp. Summit on 14th and then who knows on the trip down. We are from the Texas Gulf coast. Tried last year but the sea level to 10,000 thing in 24 hours did me in. Had to come down. Hopefully a couple of extra days at altitude will help this year. Plus the fact that I'm bringing a couple of teenagers to push me a bit. Hope they don't show old dad up.
Good hiking to all and keep an eye on the weather.

Hey you guys have fun I will be coming in from the West side about a week after you with about five of us. Three of the five of us have been hiking together since I was 16, I am now 35 and live in Capitola (Santa Cruz County). If any of you delay I will see up there I hope. I am coming through Kings Canyon and over Forester Pass via the PCT/JMuir.
