I apologize for posting off topic. I'm looking for a forum to ask about trail descriptions on the PCT north of Tuolumne and the Lake Tahoe rim trail. The highsierratopix board that I've use in the past is off line, and I haven't found a replacement. The PCT pages I've looked at do not have up-to-date forums. Suggestions? Thx --sipako

Sipako: Go to the link below for everything you'd want to know about the Tahoe Rim Trail. It may be a coincidence, but if you're anywhere around Roseville tonight, the REI Co-op is having a lecture/presentation on the TRT (7:00 p.m.).

Thanks. It's a coincidence; I'm not in Roseville. I have a lot of info and maps on the TRT web site. It reads a bit like a travel brochure, so I'm now looking for a personal description of the trail character in August. I'll check out the other site.

My husband, dog, and I have hiked the TRT in its entireity on 9 different day hikes in one summer. In August, it can be hot and in some sections very dry with little water. I remember in particular Kingsbury to Big Meadow, Tahoe City to Brockway, and Brockway to Mt Rose as having not a whole lot of water for my dog to wallow in! But it is a beautiful hike overall...Right now, all but Spooner Summit is pretty much covered with snow.
