How about this:

"Trail Crest Lodge (or Inn)"

Or maybe these:

Hyatt Riot Hotel (come on hear the noise of Hwy395)
The Bear Can (maybe save that for the 'loo' in the lobby!)
The Bivouac Shack (all you Motown fans can guess what the place's theme song will be!)
Base Camp Hostel (where everyone stays the night before, and night after, their day hike to the summit).

Don't use the following:

"The Crystal Palace" - that's (the late) Buck Owen's honky tonk bar/nightclub in Bakersfield; stop in for a beer if you're ever on Hwy 99, its got a very cool bar!

Anything related to "The Eagle's Nest" - that was Hitler's mountain retreat in the Bavarian Alps.

Two weeks ago I actually stayed overnight in Lone Pine. I would have preferred to stay in Doug’s new hotel, but, of course, it is not finished, yet. I ran into Doug working hard putting on the finishing touches on one of his outside stairways. He related many of the obstacles and huge expenses he incurred in the process, but it looks like Doug has done a great job. He still has to furnish the hotel, which is no doubt a daunting task, especially to do it right. He has great plans to accommodate all of us Whitney hikers, once he gets it up and running.

Here is a photo of the hotel (or inn) two weeks ago:

And here is another one of the unique kaleidoscope-aural effect artwork on the upper two sides of his hotel:

You can see more photos HERE.

The cubist version in the front and the version where it came from on the side. One interpretation would be that our real part that may be private or inscrutable isn't as visible as what we put up front. In this case, the tranquil one is on the side and the somewhat more frenetic one is in the front.

Wayne, Thanks for the update. (BTW aural?)

Well, Bob K, thanks to you I now see there are at least two different Whitney motifs on Doug’s Inn/Hotel. I did not notice this one was different, on the south side of the building:

I caught up with Doug and his friend Jim tonight before I headed home. He gave me a nice tour of the inside of the lobby and shower areas, as well as the office. Pretty nice digs, if I must say! (I still call the room on the second floor, north corner! grin )

Rest of the pics are here.

Enjoy!

Hi All
Because I am a Moody Blues fan I would like to suggest
The Journey Out And Inn.
I also like Steve C's Base Camp.
The Inn looks Great.
