I'm planning on doing some housecleaning on my site this summer, and I'd like to expand my book reviews of Whitney/Sierra guidebooks, geology, bear tips, mountain lore, whatever.

Thought I'd send out a request for a list of everyone's favorite mountain books.

Here are some of my favorites (or ones that I use constantly):

* Climbing California's Fourteeners - Porcella/Burns
* Close Ups of the High Sierra - Norman Clyde
* 50 Ski & Snowboard Summits in CA - Paul Richins Jr
* Glaciers of California - Bill Guyton
* Climbing California's High Sierra - Moynier

What's on your bookshelf?

High Odessey by Gene Rose (Orland Bartholomew's winter trek from Whitney to Yosemite in '29 - the first time it had been done), Coseups of the High Sierra by Norman Clyde.

Rose's book is impossible to put down, it reads fast and you won't beleive how tough Orland was.

FYI: I have corresponded with the wife of Orland's son who tells me Gene Rose may be bringing his slide show about Orland's incredible feat up to Mammoth this summer, to the ski club. If I get updates I'll post on the board.

Celeste, I completely agree with the Rose's book about Bart! Please DO post about it if they are going to have Rose give a talk, that would be worth the trip to go hear!

Also, if you happen to hear about any other showings he might be going to make anywhere...

And beyond any doubt, "The Last Season" is a worthy addition. Hard to put down.
