Is anyone aware of any exceptions to having to pick up permits by noon the day before? In other words, is there a number you can call to confirm that you are going to pick up your permit the next day? My concern is that I want one of the available permits for a day hike this coming Saturday, but don't want to lose a whole day of work on Friday and would like to leave at noon to pick up my permit by 4 or 5. Any suggestions or ideas? If not, can anyone comment on the general availability of permits for Saturday trips in June from canceled trips before I haul my butt all the way up there? Thanks for the feedback.

Do you have a reservation? Your message did not make that clear.

If you have a reservation, read the instructions. You can telephone the Visitor Center and arrange to pick up the permit from their night pickup box.

If you don't have a reservation, their online availability page shows there are still two dayhike permits available for this Saturday. All you do is call and make a reservation, which costs $15. Once you have that, you can call Friday before noon and arrange for a night pick up. ...So you can still go to work on Friday.

Sure wish Yosemite had a similar option. I broke a few laws trying to get to one of their permit offices before the 5 PM closing time last Thursday.

I haven't made an actual reservation yet as I don't want to take a spot and pay the $$$ if I can't get up in time to pick up ther permit. However, please assume I do have a reserved permit for purposes of this queston. Thanks.

Thanks Steve. I didn't see the information about the night pick up. That will work great.
