Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board July 9 - 12 Permit For 2 Will Be Available

If anyone is interested.... I have a permit for the main trail for 2 people from July 9 - 12 that I do not need. The dates no longer work for me and I have decided to give the west side of Whitney a try. (Still looking for a ride from the Portal to Horseshoe Meadows Campground.) I also have a spot reserved at the Portal Campground for July 8 that I now obviously don't need.

I'll be turning my permit in on June 27 around 10 or 11 am. If you prefer, I could phone in my cancellation prior to June 27 and notify you just before I place my call so you can have a better chance at securing the opening.

I'm getting ready to log off (after I make my last plea for a ride on the 27th) so If anyone is interested, I'll contact you Friday in the order that I received responses until something is finalized.

Just wondering if your permits have been released yet?? A friend of mine and I are looking at the 9th -10th, maybe 11th. Please let me know if you still have them or if they have been released to the visitor center. You can PM me as well. Thank you.....

I just sent you an email explaining I had to turn them in on Monday. In case you needed the info., call the Permit Office at 760-873-2483. You may still be able to get them. Good Luck!
