Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Doug Sr., What is your take on the fires?

I had planned on a trip up to the Portal area, arriving either Sunday or Monday to spend the week doing hikes up LP Creek and M. Lakes area. With conditions what they are, I don't want to be getting in the way of things. What are your feelings on what is going on up there? Thanks
