Regarding the bears at the portals: is there a specific time that the bears come to the campgrounds? Late Evening? Early morning? Any info would be appreciated!

Whenever they want to - but they seem to prefer nighttime.

When that little bear with the Mom bear standing guard tried to rip my door off its hinges it was about 11:30pm.

Honestly, that night, I think the bears waited until the very last campfire was out and the last person hit the sack to come out. When they did come out it was like something out of Braveheart. They tore through the camp ground like crazed marauders.
