An interesting observation: I was on the summit on 9/11 and noticed that the door to the summit hut had been replaced. When I was there last year (9/11/2006) the door was missing.
Last year, the weather was decidedly different on 9/11. The wind was very strong, and very few people were out laying on the rocks. In fact, very few people were "out" at all. Most of us were inside the hut warming ourselves and getting out of the wind.
Very different this year. I don't think ANYBODY was inside the hut. We were all laying out on the rocks soaking up the beautiful sunny and gloriously WIND-FREE weather.
Anybody know the story on the door? Did the door get airlifted to the summit by helicopter and installed that way?
