Sorry, this is OT, but I know many of the board regulars live in the valley. I'm considering applying for a job in the area and would like to know the housing situation there. How much would a 2~3 bedroom house, nothing fancy, cost? I've looked in the internet, but a "median" house in one area might be a 2 room cottage and a 4~5 bedroom mini-mansion in another, making the comparison of median prices not very informative. Also, is the rental situation there (houses or apartments)in tight supply as in rest of California? Thanks.

If you go to www.realtor.com you can search the MLS listings and see exactly what is up for sale now.

Dude, you leaving Pasadena for Big Pine?!? Dude!

I highly suggest Bishop regardless of the price on housing just because Yannick, Shirley and myself will have a place to crash. It'll sure help break up the drive to Lee Vining this winter. grin

I was checking myself in The Sierra Reader , which has the local classifieds. Just click on the 'online edition' along the left border and then use the pull-down menus to find the category you're looking for.

From what I've found so far, things become available and then go fast.

Kurt had also given me the name of his realtor: Reagan Slee. (760) 873-4161 He was the one who gave me the line on the online paper. He'll probably be happy to help you if you're looking to buy something.
