My friend and I plan on spending Sept 1st at the Portal, leaving our vehicle at the Portal and getting a ride the following morning to the Onion Valley campground. We will then backpack our way along the JMT to Mt Whitney and rejoin our vehicle in the Portal later in the week. We have all of our permits.

Does anyone know of a taxi service or any other way to get from the Portal to the Onion Valley campground one way early in the morning? Price isn't a big issue, dependability is!

Thanks everyone.

I did the same shuttle last summer with a man named Richard who lives near Lone Pine. Great guy who took me and my 2 boys to Onion Valley for $110. Of course that was the old days when gas was $2.50/gallon. Richard's number is 760-876-4443.
Hope it helps

Thanks Chemo, I see from your previous posts you've done this route; I'll be calling Richard in Lone Pine in the morning!
