Damn you guys are cruel, at least it didn't explode like its look-a-like, the ubiquitous Ford Pinto.

I put 160,000 miles on that bad boy before it died.

Bill -- I need to own up to something myself. I drove a Chevy Vega for years in the 1970s. It did come to me via marriage, but that's no excuse. I think we squeezed 120,000 miles out of it, Al engine and all. Actually, the limitation was eastern winters and the resulting rust. A friend with a nearly identical car drive around for years with the body held together with duct tape. We were heading that way when various other things went wrong and I gave up the ghost.

What pisses me off is that the Pinto and Gremlin made Time's 50 Worst list but the Vega didn't. What's up with that?

The Vega howled. A friend's father got him one for surviving Vietnam...he didn't take the hint and volunteer for a second tour. wink
